"A United Way Family Fun Day will be held on May 30 from 11 AM to 4 PM at Roane State Community College. All ages are welcome; admission is free."

"Fun activities, including children's inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, children's book giveaways, games, and the West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department (WRCVFD)-sponsored Live Burn Trailer Training, will take place throughout the day."

"Many local groups will be in attendance, including the Girl and Boy Scouts, Second Harvest Food Bank, CASA, Michael Dunn Center, the Salvation Army, West Roane VFD, and more."

The Live Burn Trailer Training is particularly exciting. West Roane VFD will also be giving out safety information, coloring pages for children, and quite a few free smoke alarms spread throughout the day.

"The event will be preceded by a 5k CASA run at 9 AM."

West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department will have an Open House at Station #1 at 1303 Pumphouse Road on Saturday, September 27th from 1 PM to 5 PM for the community. WRCVFD personnel will available to share information about fire safety and also have an exciting Live Fire Training session. Bring your camera for thrilling fire shots! Light refreshments will be provided free of charge.

April 25 Update: West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department is trying to raise $10,450 from businesses, groups, and individuals to help get a $209,000 grant from FEMA for a much-needed pumper truck.

Today, WRCVFD met the goal. Neighbors sent in exactly $10,463.05 in "Pumper Pledges," $13.05 over the top! Thanks to all those generous folks! :)

Now we need those who pledged to send in the money if they have not already to make those FEMA folks know our community is serious about needing a new pumper truck. Thanks to you all for making a pledge that will make a real difference.

This week, West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department is trying to raise $10,000 in pledges from businesses, groups, and individuals to help get a $200,000 grant from FEMA for a much-needed pumper truck.

On Monday, folks sent in $1660 "Pumper Pledges". Way to go, folks! :)

Another $8340 is needed by April 3 to make those FEMA folks think our community is serious about needing a new pumper truck. So, folks, step up! Be a hero! Make a pledge that will make a difference.
