I was lucky enough to see the Princess in full color last night. Frank Sparkman was testing the lighting system by leaving them on all night last night.
Well, it isn't my best work...I'll do better next time, hopefully, however, she looks beautiful to me!
Expect to see or hear news soon of a Grand Opening in March!
Stay up to date on the Princess Blog...'course I'll post here as well!
The Cornstalk Heights Historical Community Organization holds its 21st annual "Historic Harriman Christmas Tour" this coming Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 10-11).
For the 14th consecutive year, the group will make available a commemorative Christmas ornament, and this year the ornament features the Princess Theatre!
This one may turn out to be a real collector's item!

I visited the Princess yesterday and walked into the "concession" area, where Dr. Tappan used to have his practice, and then made my usual rounds through the auditorium, upstairs to the balcony, and back stage. I came back to where I came in and there sat the new concessions counter! It hadn't been 15 minutes!
So, it just goes to show you that things are happening rapidly at the Princess. Most things are on schedule, but there are a few "hard to find" items that are making an opening a little hard to define.

You don't actually have to go inside the Princess these days to see the work being done at the Princess. It sometimes spills out onto Roane Street.
This week has seen roofing work on the tops of the old Margrave and Tappan Buildings had debris sliding off a shoot and down into a dumpster, a semi was unloading more duct work today, blocking one lane of traffic, while carpenters were hard at work framing rooms and covering it all with sheet-rock.

You only have to drive by to see the great work that's being put into the Princess restoration. These are historic times!

Work inside the Princess has begun in earnest after the receipt of the approval of the state fire marshal. Scaffolding reaches the ceiling of the auditorium and workmen are busy plastering the walls. The skeletal like framework allows workers to reach every lofting region of the huge building.
