Did you know that the City of Harriman already has a Pit Bull Ban? How did this get by without us knowing it? Did I sleep through April?
How are they enforcing it? Not very well! There were several Pit Bulls among the crowd at the Labor day celebrations.

A new group of concerned homeowners, business owners, educators, students, clergy and others who live or work in Roane County has formed Save Roane Starry Skies.
The mission of this citizens’ group is to recover and preserve the beauty of the starry night skies in Roane County. By encouraging responsible outdoor lighting for security, energy conservation, and aesthetics, they want to pass along the heritage of beautiful night skies to their children before this heritage is lost to light pollution.

Let me not be understood as saying that there are no bad laws, nor that grievances may not arise for the redress of which no legal provisions have been made. I mean to say no such thing. But I do mean to say that although bad laws, if they exist, should be repealed as soon as possible, still, while they continue in force, for the sake of example they should be religiously observed.

If you are interested in curbside recycling, I need your help! I am trying to compile a list of Roane Countians who would like to have curbside recycling. That means you would sort your recycleables, and on schedule, place them outside for pick-up. I know you are out there. I spoke with many of you at the Kingston Country Fair and Rockwood Family Fall Festival. Please contact me and provide your name and contact info. I need to know where you live - city or county.
Thanks,
Wendy @ KRB

Keep Roane Beautiful meets every third Thursday of the month. This is our Board meeting, but it is open to the public. This is a great way to get connected and see what we are plotting! Our meetings are held in our offices above Adkisson's Florist in downtown Harriman. For more information, call 865-882-0030.
I went to see a local production at a local theatre. "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" is now showing in the theatre at Roane State.
It's a nice theatre, with plenty of capacity, a good stage and technical outfitting. Above all, it's a good show with a good cast, well done, and it's good fun.
