... concerning the current Occupy Wall Street phenomenon.

Quite frankly, I've misunderstood a lot of it, I know a lot of other people have. And I still think some protestors misunderstand it because of slogans and other things that don't really impart information (and only inflame emotions). I still think there are people protesting and having little to no idea what the hell they're talking about. And I think some folks are simply pissed because other people have more money and somehow that's not fair. However, this writer seems to have a pretty good grasp on things.

From The Rolling Stone, no less! :-)

To be clear, I don't condemn wealth, I don't condemn money, I don't condemn those who have more than I do. I do understand that it is quite possible to have lots more money than I have and to have gotten it completely legally and honestly. Corruption does not equal being wealthy. Illegal and dishonest is a different kettle of fish, however.

Any confusion is artificial and intentional

"These people aren't protesting money. They're not protesting banking. They're protesting corruption on Wall Street."

Folks aren't pissed because other folks have more money...they are pissed because those folks gamed the system to get it and will turn America into a third world economy if we don't stop them. The Occupy protests are essentially calling for the restoration of effective regulation and the creation of a level playing field. The demands are simple...Reinstate Glass Segal, Enact a transactions tax on Wall Street to pay for effective regulatory enforcement, Strengthen the EPA, Reverse the Citizens United decision making corporations people, and Break the link between lobbyists money and legislation.

There is a revolution going on in this country right now and the lead story on ABC this morning was the collapse of a Kardashian marriage. I would add trust busting media ownership to the above list.

Sorry if I made...

... the original too long before a break.

OWS should be Occupy Washington according to this article

OWS should be occupy Washington! They are protesting the people and companies that continue to profit from government bailouts. HELLO!! How about protesting the government that is bailing them out. It's not their fault that our government continues to give lifeline after lifeline to these companies. Stop the problem at the source and guess what more than 1/2 of these companies would be out of business and wouldn't need to be protested.
