Harvard Lung Study
When I was in elementary school and/or middle school we participated in the “Harvard Lung Study”. I we did spirometry test each year for a few years. I wonder what that determined.

This is THE study that forced EPA to regulate small particle pollution (PM2.5)
Thank you! Your participation set the stage for EPA's monitoring of the air around Kingston.

As stated in a previous thread I was part of the Harvard Lung Study,
that went on for nearly 15 years. Originally they went to towns that
had coal burning as the main energy source. But later on they found
out that some of the larger cities the tests were flawed because of
smog and other variables. But Harriman/ Kingston was one of the main
studies since about the only type of pollution was the burning of coal
at the steam plant. We at Harriman were told that we had above average
lung capacity, and we studied and measured over a 15 year period. The
study was renamed The six city study. You can search it on google. And
there are several books written on it, Also as previously stated my
greatgrandfather owned nearly 100 acres where the steam plant now
sits. He was forced off his land, and moved right across from the
plant he lived to nealry 93 and his wife my great grand mother was
100. So from that standpoint you could say that they had no adverse
effects from the plant . And they never left Swan Pond Rd. They are
still there today!
