WVLT TV goes a little deeper

Into the Judges ruling:

In a written opinion, Roane County Circuit Court Judge Russell Simmons ruled Patton:

  • threatened the life of a citizen he was elected to protect,
  • used racial slurs,
  • threatened fellow officers and their family,
  • forced vehicles off the road for a traffic stop for no legal reason,
  • used actions and words toward other law enforcement officers that could distract the other officer and place him and third parties at risk, and;
  • used threats to coerce someone to have arrest warrants dropped.
