meeting continue
Long Term Recovery Meetings are each Wednesday @ 4:30 at the Roane County Court House. Every 2 weeks there will be TVA Reps present.
Great report! Thanks.
There is no mention of the test results on the outflow water from the dewatering field. I've asked for that repeatedly and not gotten anything. It's important that we learn what's happening there. This will be the point at which we can see whether the dredging disturbance is releasing large amounts of selenium or whatever.
plans... $$ ... and questions.....
there was no mention of that.. nor did they know why the water tested high in Aluminum....
The committee did pass around a letter drafted by Mike Farmer regarding the $$ requested.. he called it a tithe and offering...
WC... did you send that question to the LTRC? I was dissappointed when they made the statement that they only recieved 2 sets of questions (i sent some, and I think the Emory River Group also sent some)....

i would be surprised if the water did NOT test high in aluminum. That's the result of disturbing the ash. The metals in the ash start out contained in silicate spheres but over time they oxidize and tend to migrate to the surface of the spheres forming an oxide rind. Even water flowing through them doesn't pick up much unless they get scrubbed around by something, say a catastrophe or a dredging operation. The rind is mostly aluminum oxides but also contains the other metal oxides we've heard so much about. If we are seeing high aluminum, I would be surprised at not seeing high levels of the other metals as well.
