Thought for today!
Respect is earned and not a given because of a uniform you wear.
Just because something is not illegal does not mean its appropriate
RB you stated that HR people donot check Facebook and MySpace Sites Wrong1
(Well maybe in Roane County but that could be one of the reason there is mistrust of LE)
Can Facebook and mySpace Hurt Your Job Application?
Another great article on employers using the internet looking at sites like Facebook and mySpace to do background checks on potential job candidates. This article presents a good legal perspective since the author Jeanine DeBacker is an Employment lawyer for Wendel Rosen Black & Dean. An interesting employment statistic presented in this article:

“According to a 2006 CareerBuilder.com survey of more than 1,150 hiring managers, one-quarter of them reported using search engines to screen job candidates, while one in 10 said they’ve used social-networking sites. The survey also found that more than half of managers have chosen not to hire an applicant after viewing their online profiles.”

Not only can social networking sites hurt your chances of getting a job, but sites like Facebook can also get you fired! Take a look at this post about the Canada Border Services employees who are in hot water at work over the things they posted on Facebook.

To Nosey: While there are some on here who attack every post you make
there are others who agree with you.
Do Officers need down time ? Most definiitely but it should be more private

That's my Rant for this week. Hang in there Nosey there are some who feel
you are providiing a service for Roane Countains
Question of the Day " Why is there mistrust and disrespect of LE"

Good Post! Great point!

Thanks

LaLa and all the others who have gotten in touch with me, we have already made much progress. The posters have moved their profiles to private, so the general public cannot see profiles any more which is a step in the right direction, a few of the pics did contain misdemanor law breaking. One was open container law. and another is vandalism and B&E. While most could be chalked up to immature 30-40 year olds. But you bet we will keep the nose to grind stone. Unitil we have policy in place which prohibits such behavior from public and elected officials.

I can't speak to the B&E, as

I can't speak to the B&E, as I'm not sure about the location. I haven't been there myself, so the only info I get is the info on here. As for the "open container" incident, that was on a beach that allowed the consumption of alcoholic beverages. See the link below. Please get your facts strait before you attempt to slander the names of the good LEOs.

You might want

to loo at that again its a glass bottle, not allowed at Folly Beach

How dare you.....

7SFG-Medic you should have been arrested immeadetley......I bet your on the SC most wanted list.......lol

It did

look as though it was a glass bottle shame on you. I was attacked about saying he had drank an excess amount but from the pics looks like its the same night as the beer on the table pic. I don't mind if he and his friends were drunk or not but they don't need to get so upset about the pics if they took them and posted them. I as I have stated do hold members of the community to a higher standard and would expect more from them but with the way most of these kids today are raised what should we expect. Maybe he had a rough home life and the demons are coming to light now that he is an adult. I would just have to talk to him to see if he is having some issues. From the pics and giving his age there is some underlying problems. It could be possible that the pics where taken under the influence of something. Just a thought from me.

Allright...

Let's give this stuff a rest. It's gone on too long as it is.
