January 19 is the ML King Day of Service: A National Day to Volunteer. This year West Roane VFD is having a virtual Recruitment Day. Firefighters, EMTs, First Responders, and Associates who help behind the scenes are all needed. Training is available! Call 354-3116 today to find out more about your fire department and what you can do to help.

This year's M. L. King, Jr. Day of Service is a day on, not a day off here at WRCVFD. King Day is an excellent time to give something extra back to the community. Remember that no one is too old or too young to start helping.

To find out more on this Day of Service about volunteer opportunities at WRCVFD, call 354-3116 to speak with a volunteer. Or, any other day call Station #1 at 354-8201 or Charlie at 354-1993. Or see: Volunteer Opportunities.

Too few people in their prime are stepping up

A thought: Many of the current volunteers are retirees or close to retirement. Where are the younger folks in their prime? Why are so many younger men and women content to leave these essential emergency medical and firefighting tasks and the protection of their families and homes to the oldsters?
