State layoffs have started because of state budget woes.

WBIR.COM reports on this, and the firings started in the state Dept of Human Services.

The only person not offered a severance package was one who did not take them up on their buy-out offer. That employee says the dismissal was unfair and based on politics and/or favoritism. The state says her complaint will be investigated "just like any other."
