What a matched pair - Patton and Cawood!
(link...)

Update: RCN slideshow Scroll down to find it. (thanks for the update, WC)

These two seem to be a match made in heaven... or would that be SOMEWHERE ELSE?!?!

I say OUST 'EM BOTH!

This is ridiculous, and the taxpayers have to pay for it all.

Good Gracious... just what

Good Gracious... just what our county needs... more headlines!

Well, our county is always gonna have headlines...

... It's the nature of headlines... and of news media.

And the fact of the matter is that on this forum when Iive put articles and links that point to or talk about good news, it ia extremely rare that there is a comment beyond my first posting of such an item.

So apparently it's human nature, as well as the nature of headlines and the media. People don't give a crap about good news or about talking about it.

RB

Good news is good. Bad news

Good news is good. Bad news requires response and action to correct.

Assault with a deadly briefcase?

Sounds like Cawood wasn't

Sounds like Cawood wasn't ready to proceed and couldn't get a continuance so he did the next best thing. The fact that this guy hasn't been disbarred already is amazing.

Just curious WC, your headline seems to indicate that maybe you think Cawood shouldn't have been charged. Is that the case?

I don't know how in the world you get that...

Chris is an interesting guy...from a clinical standpoint. I had him autograph his book for me, but I think he's a different duck in a small pond.

What is gonna happen next?

What is gonna happen next?

Lord only knows...

.. and he hasn't told me :-)

Anybody's guess.

Why you know Booster. Cawood

Why you know Booster. Cawood will file another suit against the county and hold a press conference for all to see!

Has Roane County got some kind of "magnetic field" over it that just automatically attracts the kinds of characters who have made the news?

I wonder if this will make

I wonder if this will make his next book?

Well...

"Is the choke hold that one officer has on Mr. Cawood legal?"

  1. That is not a choke hold (not in any of the photos I saw).
  2. Choke holds are legal in certain circumstances.
  3. The Sheriff's Dept has had very recent training on choke holds and are current on their training.

"If Mr. Patton went through the metal detector was he single out for “special treatment"

  1. It is not evident from the photos that he did go through.
  2. I have been there a large number of times when people went through the metal detector and still had to be wanded or searched.
  3. It is not unusual for this to happen.
  4. The deputy touching his elbow was probably for him to get his arms in a position suitable for more effective wanding (I've seen this happen many times, and nobody else gets their bowels in an uproar when it happens - nobody but the team of Patton/Cawood.) I've seen this deputy's technique for this time and time again, and there is nothing inappropriate about it.
  5. All that notwithstanding, Patton has a history of weapons carry, so an increased index of suspicion was appropriate.

Mr Cawood's behavior is a disgrace to himself, the human race, and any bar of which he might be a member. Yet the bar polices itself. They will - or will not do - whatever they feel is appropriate within the bounds of what their bylaws and rules of conduct allow or demand.

It doesn't take an IQ much higher than that of pond scum to figure that, given all the pre-courthouse appearance efforts that were made (photos at the law office, outside the courthouse, etc), there were plans for public displays of whatever.

Evidence? Res ipsa loquitur.

RB

I don't know WHO the officer is...

... But a close (magnified) look at the picture shows the hand is BESIDE (to the right of) Cawood's neck, NOT around his neck. There were people above this scene looking down at it (see some of the other photos) who verified this. It is NOT a choke hold.

You weren't there (nor was I) but physical confrontation is what Cawood had in mind, and it's what he started. The officers responded in kind to his physicality and resistance. It was handled by minimizing the situation, restraining Cawood, and removing him from the situation as quickly as possible. It's an appropriate response. It would not have been appropriate for him to have been allowed to engage in his own physicality and not be restrained by those who are paid to be there to do just that.

Nope. Nobody was drinking, at least from my use of Latin.

What Cawood did was more than bait.

RB

If Anyone knows.............

Melvin Page,as I know many do,he is as good of a man as you will find!

Absolutely right, Ron.

100% on the money.

RB

Did Cawood ever post bail,

Did Cawood ever post bail, or did he decide to "hang around" a few days?

With all the stuff going on,

With all the stuff going on, I wondered about Mrs. Cawood. Are they still married, and how does this make her feel? I don't think they live in Roane County any longer, so maybe that is good for her. And what about the rest of his family?
