Oh Boy...Here we go again.

A Roane County News article says we are about to implement a County Wide Fire Department only we wouldn't actually be doing that, somehow. We would still have the Volunteer Fire Departments.

(link...)

How much thought has been given to this, I wonder? We seem to be on the verge of taking a big step fairly quickly and without a lot of public input or discussion. I would be very hesitant to jump on this thing without first seeing the big overall plan and hearing from the Volunteer Departments about whether this will improve things or not.

Now don't get the idea that I am opposed to this but it is just one of those things that can be done very wrong if it's mishandled. Let's be sure this is what we want and that it will be good for everyone. Let's see the plan with all the details before we go off and commit to something like this. Roane County does not have a good track record of handling big projects well, if you know what I mean.
