Attorney General Opposes Same Sex Divorce in Roane County

I suspect our State Attorney General can do what he wants until this gets to the Supreme Court. The SCOTUS has ruled that TN must honor marriages legally performed in other states and I suspect the right to dissolve a marriage should be accorded to all citizens, regardless of you personal opinion.

This does put the AG in the curious position of opposing the dissolution of a same sex marriage because he is opposed to same sex marriages.

The State AG contends:

That policy doesn’t violate the U.S. Constitution, according to the brief, because “Tennessee’s marriage laws treat out-of-state same-sex marriages exactly the same as any other out-of-state marriage that is prohibited in Tennessee.”

That's like saying it is OK to discriminate because that's what we always do. "Conservative logic" is an oxymoron.
