Becky Ruppe Officially announced her campaign for State Senator

The one person you want your picture taken with if you are running for office in Roane County is Una Coffman, long time Roane County Commissioner and really decent person, even though she has republican tendencies.

Becky gave one of the best speeches as to why she's running that I have heard from a local politician. We found out she had been widowed at 23 with a small daughter and with a son on the way, and that she knew how tough it is to try to raise a family with no insurance working for minimum wage.

I usually think, "Yeah, yeah," when I hear a politician talking about wanting to win office because they think they can "Make a Difference" but in this case I am convinced it is true. Becky Ruppe has a fairly high paying elected office as County Mayor of Morgan County right now. State Senator pays about a third as much. The folks I talked to that have worked with Becky marvel at her leadership and effectiveness.

So, OK...I drank the Kool-aid and am totally supporting Mayor Ruppe for my next State Senator.

Becky gave talked to the crowd in the company of past State Senator and now Congressman, Lincon Davis, current Senator, Tommy Kilby, and State Rep Dennis Fergusen.

A Who's Who in Roane County was there to watch and applaud:

Mayor Troy Beets, Teresa Kirkham, Gerald Largen, Tony Brown, Polk Cooley, Dick Evans, Mayor Mike Farmer, and a host of others in what I would call bi-partisan support for a Democratic Candidate.

I'll post more photos as I have time.

Gerald Largen and Becky

Gerald Largen's comment was "If everybody in Roane County could hear the speech she just gave, she wins hands down."

Una and Teresa Kirkham

Mayor Beets or Commissioner Beets?

Both of them are looking good in that suit!

Gerald and Lincoln

I might agree, however...

It's those on the other end of the spectrum in either party that worry me.

It's similar to my thoughts about folks who don't buy into human activity as a cause of global warming and climate change.

If one group wins but is wrong, it will cost us some money.

If the other group wins but is wrong, it will cost us our lives.

Good info, WC

Thanks for taking the time to provide the report and the photo.

I happen to know a number of people who, although they have what you referred to as Republican tendencies, do know how to recognize a quality candidate when they see one, regardless of candidate's stated party affiliation. Una Coffman is one of them. Same is true of a number of people with Democrat tendencies. It's those on the other end of the spectrum in either party that worry me.
