... who seem to have a penchant for making big legislative issues out of non-essential trivia.
The folks in the TN General Assembly have earned some fair criticism for legislating on lots of things besides bringing jobs, fixing the economy, etc. As I said, fair criticism.
But California (surprised with that state being brought up, huh?) has at least equaled Tennessee in asininity. California - a state that has been in VERY sad financial shape (worse than TN) for a number of years - has now taken on the dreaded and horrific offender of foie gras. That's right! you heard the news here first! California legislators have broken through all the useless things like keeping their state from bankruptcy and developed the bollocks to enact a ban of foie gras beginning July 1! Now THERE'S some legislative fortitude guys!
How nice to know that multiple legislatures justify their jobs be focusing on the ludicrous.

Well now actually, since
Well now actually, since foie gras involves extended cruelty to a goose to the point of giving it massive and debilitating liver disease I would hardly call preventing cruelty to an animal "ludicrous", RB.
I actually heard a chef expounding on that, WC
He was talking of visiting duck and goose farms in CA and says conditions have changed significantly over the past decades.
The CA legislature had no such altruistic thoughts in mind, anyway - they were engaging in the mindless nannying like NY is trying to do with other foods in their state.
Either way, there are better things for a legislature to be spending its time on.

If they are Canadian geese, maybe they will move from Tennessee to California to be protected.
