Drought is back in West and South Roane County. According to the Tennessee State Drought Monitor ((link...)), parts of Roane County are now officially suffering drought conditions.

Our Roane County woods are full of excess fuel. Remember, "Escaped debris burns are the leading cause of wildfire" (Tennessee Division of Forestry).

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a notification of increased fire danger across East Tennessee ((link...)). The NWS states: "BURNING IS DISCOURAGED DUE TO INCREASED FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL."

For more information, see BurnSafeTN.org ((link...)).
