From Our "Huh?" Department...RCN Dishes Dirt on Competitor's Mug Shot Rag

This story starts of with the the fact that "Caught Up" publisher Mychel Dillard hasn't put her own face in the rag she publishes even though she's been arrested. Dillard points out that she hasn't been arrested in any of the counties she publishes in, which sort of puts the tabloid misrepresentation stamp on the RCN piece. Roane County Sheriff, Jack Stockton, says he doesn't like these things anyway because everybody gets arrested now and then and doesn't deserve this kind of treatment. I agree with Jack in a funny kind of way. A fair number of those mugshots are of people whose cases will be dismissed and some of them are actually of innocent people. Down toward the bottom of the piece we find out that the Roane County News may not have altruistic motives in making this front page news since it publishes a competitor mug shot rag, "Cuffed".

I would have thought Teresa Kirkham applying for the Roane County Park Supervisor job would be bigger news but that doesn't seem to be in the paper.

Perhaps

Perhaps Ms. Likens was making a point. If a paper is going to publish items about others, the publication should hold itself to the same standard. I refer you specifically to her citataion for DUI in another county. Most people here would not have seen the public record page of that paper, but in the interest of sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, she self reported. She was under the limit, but was still cited and she went to court and was found not guilty. Actually, it may be boring, but I find it refreshing that she was so forthright, a rarity in the media these days.
