Harriman Riverfront Proposed for Superfund Site

If the former Clinch River Corporation's property is added to the Environmental Protection Agency's National Priorities List of Superfund sites, it could force the owner to pay for cleanup, according to an EPA news release.

Then, federal help could also be available if the owner is tapped out, said Mayor Chris Mason. "This is a real win for the city of Harriman," he said.

The city sought the Superfund designation, Mason said.
