Hurley Attacks Roane Views on Her Blog

Submitted by WhitesCreek on August 22, 2012 - 4:11pm.

From Our "Julia, we're gonna miss you" Department(This is posted on Julia's new blog. I'll post our email exchange that apparently prompted it below the jump):

Still an ASS no matter how you sling the mud. A response to RoaneViews owner S.S.

Steve,
I did more in two years than you will ever accomplish in your lifetime of hatred for Roane County. I have been told that by more real leaders than I can care to forget. You and your liberal friends have done nothing for that county in over 25 years, and in Nashville, where the votes and decisions are truly made, I am confident in my accomplishments.
Your idea of "worthwhile" was sitting by while Fergusson destroyed your county and its' potential while spending every local penny he could on more Government Programs that NEVER got your people out of poverty.

Beyond noting that Julia calls Roane "That County", I won't comment on that as I am amazed at what she goes public with. I get repeatedly called an ASS and closely linked with that liberal, Kent Calfee, in the continuation at her blog, which I won't link to.

Here's the email exchange that started with my asking her to support the Tennessee Scenic Vistas Act before she leaves office. It appears that she's a bit touchy at the moment:

Dear Rep. Julia Hurley (TN-32),
I just signed a petition addressed to you titled Protection of Tennessee Scenic Vistas. So far, 4,059 people have signed the petition, including 36 of your constituents.
You can reach me directly by replying to this email, but if you'd like to email all of your constituents who have signed the petition, click here: Link...
The petition states:
"The Tennessee Scenic Vistas Protection Act (SB 0577/ HB 0291) would prohibit permits for surface mining on ridges above 2,000 feet. By signing this petition, I am endorsing the original unamended bill sponsored by Senator Stewart in the Senate, and Representative McDonald in the House. Amendments offered by committee members in both houses changed the intent of the bill from one of protection to one that would allow coal companies to mine and then attempt to put the pieces of the destroyed mountain back together."

My additional comments are:

Tennessee needs this. Don't let greed kill our state. Steve

I was hoping you would take one last chance to help your constituents. In two years I never saw you at any of the hearings nor did you once go to bat for the people who have yet to be made whole from the TVA disaster. You could still do something worthwhile before you leave office.

Good luck in the future.

Steve

Awe. You're so jealous. Go talk to your new guy Calfee. I'm sure he'll do whatever you need. I however; can think for myself without you telling me what you think I should be doing.

So, for the record, I strongly support Jack McNew for State Representative, even though Hurley knows full well in moments of lucidity that she had my precinct gerrymandered out of the 32nd House District and that neither Jack nor Kent will be my new State Rep. I would really like to know the inside baseball on that one.

Exactly what the old hat wants; a down and out bitter politician

Submitted by swanpondresident on August 22, 2012 - 3:54pm.

Risking the publicity which one clearly thrives, I couldn't help myself and was compelled to share a blog from that one-timer politician. The blog certainly doesn't represent professionalism and are limiting to one's resume. After all, who would hire an employee who has stated, publicly such distaste on a platform of self promotion?

In case the blog is eliminated, I have cc and pasted; after all, we have seen the emphatic erasure of ill-spoken words and actions in the past.

I, for one, can take issue with many of the comments made by the one-timer politician including the grossly faulty engagement of the TVA CAG as well as Mr. Scarborough's involvement in EPA CAG. As it was Mr. Scarborough whom many turned to for assistance in understanding the complexities of the environmental language and Mr. Scarborough ALWAYS lent a hand with additional research, calling in professional environmental experts, and he continued all in a very professional manner. In fact, it was Mr. Scarborough who EPA has worked for nearly four years in securing the best possible source of information regarding the TVA Coal Ash Disaster. It is a well known fact documented records exists which clearly exhibit attendance at TVA / CAG / and pre-CAG establishment or Mr. Scarborough.

Never once did Representative Hurley knock on doors in the Swan Pond Community asking residents about their concerns living in the Coal Ash Disaster Zone. Not once. Never once did Hurley show up at any public meeting other than to toot her own horn. The CAG drove public awareness. Hurley, you were no where to be seen and I venture to guess you never visited the site until you decided to run for office or soon after elected.

Here is the document and forthcoming is the link. My guess the wanna-bee blogger will eliminate the blog quickly, once her 'brain' figures out what her hot tempered fingers have written or vice versa.

Hurley, you lost fair and square. Get over it. In fact, it's time to move forward and maybe looking for guidance from a spiritual leader will allow you to better accept your not so perfect actions. Had you kept your personal life in check, my guess is you may have run uncontested. You created your public profile through your actions. Accept it and improve.

Grammar Gremlins from Groane

Julia, I have nothing against you and hope you do well in the future. I am a nobody in Roane County, just a stay home mom. But sometimes I choose candidates based on their ability to communicate. I guess I think attention to detail in writing reflects attention to detail in thought and action.

"its' " is not a word. Your choices are "it's" which is a contraction, or "its" which is possessive. You meant the latter.

Also, you wrote, "I however; can think for myself without you telling me what you think I should be doing."

A complete sentence is required after a semi colon. You should have used a comma. The irony in that mistake given your message in that particular sentence is unrivaled.

Good grammar would complement your physical beauty; I intend that as a compliment. Not having your good looks forced me to study and learn in order to compete for a job before I became a stay home mom. It's not too late for you to have both.

And last but not least, stating that SS has done less for this county than you was simply the nail in the coffin.

Sincerely,
A stay home mom, but still a voter.
