TVA Board Will Appoint New CEO

TVA's board has three of its nine seats vacant. Given the GOP obstructionism with a record number of filibusters in the Senate, the TVA board could shrink to only four members and lack a quorum by the end of the year.

Corker:

...too many directors were appointed based upon geographic or partisan politics, not the person's experience and skills to oversee America's biggest government utility. Corker said in the past one TVA director admitted he didn't know what was a "P&L statement" of profits and losses.

First off, Corker must have not been paying attention when TVA's focus on short term profit led to disasterous, literally, decisions. This is a pretty amazing statement since Senator Corker supported the process whereby Republicans refused to allow Obama to fill the vacancies unless they kept a Republican majority on the TVA board. Since the Bush administration makeover of TVA the agency has spiraled into failure after failure. It seems to have been turned into a vehicle for funneling rate payer money to corporate interests instead of serving all the people.
