I will vote for any Democratic candidate who promises to do something about mile 341 or whichever one is so treacherous that trucks can't seem to get past it without hitting the ditch.

Call TDOT into the Legislative committee and ask why this stretch is so dangerous. Ask for a review of proceedures when accidents occur to see if new measures could be taken to expedite traffic returning to normal flow.
Our response folks seem to shut lanes down unnecessarily, compared to what I've noticed in other states.

THP and TDOT *generally* have a policy/process that lanes are open within an hour in INTERSTATE roads unless certain criteria involving road condition and/or safety (e.g. spills and other things) are met requiring more lengthy closure.
but with Roane County not being in the top of the counties with traffic deaths...i dont look for anything to happen fast. Check out the stats.. Roane County doesnt even rank close to being in the top within the past 6 years...Trust me i know the mountain all to well and would like to see it happen too. I get tired of the delays while I am traveling

... is that most drivers - of big rigs or regular cars - blithely ignore any and all warnings of danger here or other places on the road. It's like they don't BELIEVE that the road narrows to 1 lane in 1500 feet, or that the curves or incline are dangerous... and the run headlong to try to get past just one more vehicle who is trying to heed the warnings.
Part of this problem is the attitude of drivers. And no changes to roads or anything else can "fix" that.
... "do about" it? That any candidate, if elected, could do?

I don't have access to those written documents.
