Update: Thirty minutes after Mrs. Creek and I hiked the fire line two firefighters followed us. They reported bear tracks on our tracks going in the same direction for a good way before veering off into the brush. We've seen bear sign before near the house but have yet to see a bear. Good to know they're out there, and, while they are not afraid of humans, they are very good at not being seen.
