Things to Ponder on a Sunday Morning

Submitted by WhitesCreek on July 1, 2012 - 9:17am.

Young people can tell if a person is middle aged or older by smelling them.

Long lasting birth control methods such as an under skin implant and IUD's are 22 times more effective than the pill.

Elements number 114 and 116 have been named and are flerovium and livermorium, respectively. Elements 113, 115, 117, and 118 have not yet been named.

Animated pictures were produced around 30,000 years ago by carving two sequential scenes on a button like piece of bone which was flipped by winding it on a piece of string.

And surprising no one, DNA studies have shown that agricultural breeding has produced a tomato that is uniformly red and pretty but doesn't taste as good as the old mottled varieties due to a gene mutation which caused the loss of sugars and flavinoids.

Your Sunday morning reality

is obviously taking place within an AC bubble free of crop or livestock concerns.
Ponder this!
We have hit one of those "environmental hiccups" as you call them, a lot sooner than most thought. And maybe you are in shock or denial about how bad the situation really is if you pay attention. TVA had an outage (failure) and has lost a critical amount of generating capacity. With the major storm damage to the north of us, there is no available power to buy on the grid. TVA is asking us to CONSERVE POWER from 3-6 pm because they will not be able to meet the normal demand.

Farmers across the storm damaged area are without power and are hanging on with generators, but generators and irrigation pumps are only stopgap, short term solutions. It is the middle of the growing season for producing YOUR food. Pay attention here 'cause you like to eat. And if the ferocity and magnitude of those storms did not frighten you, then you are badly disconnected.

The crash of 2008 didn't end, won't,- because we are hiring the same people who caused the problem to kick the financial can down the road. But hey, isn't that what we do, on any critical issue we kick the can down the road one more time. Closing ones eyes does not make the wall we're about to slam into go away. You can't escape the similarity of your situation to Waldo Canyon residents. Drought is a wicked destroyer.

For your listening reminder, I would suggest "All Along The Watchtower" Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendricks, Dave Matthews, and others all have renditions.

Enough BABBLING ABOUT NOTHING already!
