Lawmakers and Laws --- not texting but videoing, questionable animal protectionSubmitted by swanpondresident on June 18, 2012 - 10:20am.
First of all, I'm not picking on anyone for those who might have such a thought. There are always wise decisions, a world of second chances, and then mulligans (if I could just have done this over). What I do not understand is a State Representative who keeps making poor decisions, apologizes for them, then hangs one's hat on 'look at my record' (of course, not personal record). The recent You Tube Video taken, apparently by Rep Julia Hurley as it is her registration name and likely her voice, instructing a ride along passenger to hold poor Pepper, the rescue dog, out of interior of the car to watch the dog 'air swim' is beyond me. I wouldn't do this to any animal. I just don't get it! Stuck at age 13, I guess.

She also voted for this in 2011
"Section 55-8-202. No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an unrestrained animal"
Link...
... according to the wording of the linked statute, she did not violate the statute. The statute says unrestrained in the front DRIVER seat, which this dog was not. And the statute defines restrained as, among other things, being held by a person in the front passenger seat. So by what this statute says, this video is not in violation of it.

She should be watching us. We are watching her. We have been since the day she slipped into office, and we will be until the day she is pushed out. I think her days in office are soon coming to an end.
There are copies available, I will bet.
Dang... I didnt get to see the video... She has taken it down. I have a shelter dog and I would never put "Kiwi" in danger.
A copy is available, I have been told. Just don't know how to have it posted here.
