I am afraid I discounted Alex Chilton since our days in Memphis as kids. We were jealous because we were working and struggling to get our bands going and Alex was this rich kid whose mother bought him a recording session and a hit. The Box Tops were a pretty bad band when I heard them. It was just recently that I found the Big Star work and some really decent song writing he did. Amazingly, he seems to have spent most of his work career as a dishwasher in New Orleans.
"Cry Like a Baby"...
RIP, Alex.
