Wasn't this the same guy arrested in west Knoxville for leaving and not paying of gas?... or something along those lines? I thought I saw it on TV. I'm not saying he did. It is just something that is stuck in the back of my mind. Anyone else remember the same thing?

maybe it was closer to Oak Ridge... I forget the details. He paid for the gas. He was also nearly arrested for a shouting/profanity match up near one of the court clerk's offices... He has a temper at times.
But whether I agree with all his decisions on the Commission or not, he is intelligent, and he does his homework. He generallyl puts a lot of thought into his deliberations. To me, sometimes he "gets it" and sometimes he doesn't.
He, for instance, is one who really critically thought about the proposal for the firefighters and the grant that was passed last week. He said he had spent a lot of time considering pros and cons and he strongly supported it. He spoke rather eloquently in its favor. I remember thinking to myself, "Geez! He really gets it!"
Commissioner Harmon, who had made opening statements saying he would oppose and vote against the resolution because he thought it would raise taxes, actually wound up voting in favor of the resolution. I think it was at least in part due to listening to Olsen's reasoning.
We could have a majority of new commissioners next year. I know of a few people that are going to run who have good shots at winning. The County Executive race might be interesting too!
One of Mr. Olsen's famous quotes!
"I am not for this and I do not agree with it but I am going to vote for it!"
I don't recall what the issue was but that is exactly what he said. LOL
