Imperial MothSubmitted by WhitesCreek on July 29, 2008 - 9:34am.
This 5 inch Imperial Moth greeted us this morning, probably as a result of my son not turning off the lights as he came in last night. There a lot of different Satruniids, as these moths are called, in our area, though there numbers are dwindling. I find each one of them to be a gift when I get close enough to see one. Funny, but this link has the best pictures of the family of moths, even though it is about eradicating them. Leave them alone. The trees will regrow their leaves and you will get to see some beautiful creatures as a result. (click the photo to see a larger image)
